Accessibility

Everyone should be able to look through our work, read about our sessions and get in touch. This page says what we do to make that true, where we know we still fall short, and how to reach us when something doesn't work for you.

What we aim for

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA on this website and in the client portal, and we test our pages with automated accessibility tools and by keyboard.

What we've done

  • Photographs have text descriptions, and decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Menus, galleries, the photo viewer and the film viewer work with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a skip link past the navigation.
  • The homepage slideshow and every film can be paused, and nothing plays sound unless you ask it to.
  • Every film with sound has a captions track you can turn on in the player, and films can carry a written description of what they show, read out by screen readers and printed on the film's page.
  • Text meets AA colour contrast, and pages reflow to fit small screens.
  • Forms label every field, say what is required in words, and tell you which field needs attention.
  • Pages respect your device's reduced-motion setting — the homepage slideshow still changes photographs, and has a pause button — and Spanish pages mark any text that is still in English.

What we know still falls short

  • We're still writing descriptions for our films, and full captions for any film where people speak; until a film has its own, its captions mark the music. None of our films has audio description, and films delivered in client galleries don't have captions yet. If you'd like a film described, ask and we'll write it for you.
  • Some journal posts, testimonials and older gallery descriptions are only in English.
  • Photographs in older collections sometimes have only a general description.

Tell us, or work with us another way

If anything on this site is hard to use, or you'd like something in another format, email inquire@maewinmedia.com. We reply within two business days. You never need the website to work with us: we're happy to plan your session entirely by email, phone or text.
